KOCHI: KOCHI: Devastated over finding his house in ruins, Rocky (54), a resident of Kadamakkudy in Kothadu, committed suicide on Wednesday.
The flood victim and his family had returned to their house from a relief camp at St Albert’s College on Tuesday. They had come to clean their dwelling and surroundings.
Read also: What to do after a floodAccording to Rocky's neighbours, his wife and children had returned to the camp the same day while Rocky was seen interacting with some people in the neighbourhood till around 9.30pm.
About 9am on Wednesday, his relatives found the door of the house locked. When they checked the place, they found Rocky's body hanging inside the house.
Quoting local people, the Varapuzha police said that Rocky appeared distressed over the existing condition of his house as well as the loss of electronic equipment.
He was scared and clueless about undertaking the daunting task of rebuilding.
“As of now we cannot attribute any other reason other than trauma behind the suicide. It appears that he had no other issues,” said a police officer adding many people are finding it difficult to tide over the loss of property and other material assets.
